For over two decades, Ants of the Prairie has developed projects that include multispecies habitats in the built environment. Its work advocates for a resilient and biodiverse planet by fostering interdisciplinary and inter-organisational collaborations, working with partners and consultants in ecology, field biology, visual art, music, engineering, anthropology, landscape architecture, architecture, and planning, believing that joy is found in discoveries that emerge from collective processes of research, reflection, and making.

Led by Prof. Joyce Hwang, Ants of the Prairie, alongside the School of Planning and Architecture, UB, will be conducting a series of site visits with its students to investigate the imaginings, possibilities, and challenges of multi-purpose arts centres and their interactions with urban landscapes and literary interventions (such as the Doek Arts Trust’s ongoing projects).
