Charmaine //Gamxamûs is a Namibian poet and writer with a BSc in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town. She placed second in the Goethe-Institut Namibia’s In Times of Pandemic Short Story Competition for her story, “Dehisce”. Charmaine also published a children’s book in the inaugural Book Sprint Namibia titled, Myra’s Friends. Charmaine is a lover of language, expression, and storytelling through poetry, literature, and music.
Charmaine was a fellow of the Narrating Namibia, Narrating Africa Doek Emerging Writers Program. Her short story “Misdirection” was published in Doek! Literary Magazine and longlisted for the 2023 Bank Windhoek Doek Literary Awards, while “Leave Love In The Desert” appears in Now Now: The 2023 Doek Anthology. Charmaine was a member of the 2022-2023 Doek Collective.
