Horsethief Books is a publisher of poetry books and a monthly digital magazine that will be relaunched soon. At Horsethief Books, the book is an essential poetic form, one that, like the line, has inbuilt knowledge. The only way to justify the continued existence of that form, when digital reading has become so convenient and ubiquitous, is to make objects that are as durable as the vitalising experiences they contain.

Co-founded by Justin Boening and Devon Walker-Figueroa, Horsethief Books offers the 2026 Doek Literary Festival an opportunity to investigate the various ways in which poetry publication can be bolstered locally in creative and sustainable ways.
