Brother Mbango is a Windhoek-based vinyl collector and selector. His spinning is rooted in depth, memory, and movement. His sound curation is guided by philosophies of liberation rooted in African fugitive knowledge systems and ways of being. Through this lens, he navigates and connects sonic geographies across the globe, tracing the circulation of rhythm, struggle, and creativity within African and Black diasporic traditions. His sets are not confined to genre but unfold as journeys—opening space for expansive listening, cultural dialogue,

and the reimagining of identity through sound. Brother Mbango’s vinyl soundscapes have been shared in cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, London, Copenhagen, and Malmö. 

As the co-founder of KoolTrain Namibia, a platform that introduces local audiences to lesser-known sound worlds, he was one of the organisers of Felabration Namibia (2016 and 2017), a cultural event honouring the life and legacy of Fela Kuti.

Brother Mbango is one of Namibia’s most avid record collectors; his sonic interests include jazz, reggae, hip hop, soul, funk, 70s Afrofunk, and a wide spectrum of alternative and obscure sonic traditions. Beyond music, he is an academic, tea enthusiast, herbalist, and a lover of literature and the arts.
