As a key institution within Namibia’s cultural sector, the Directorate of Arts in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture is dedicated to advancing the creative industry through strategic skills development, targeted funding initiatives, and the effective implementation of national arts policies. It is committed to serving the public and fostering a vibrant and sustainable arts ecosystem by engaging stakeholders, partners, and practitioners as they work together to strengthen Namibia’s creative landscape.

The 2026 Doek Literary Festival’s expanding programming and production was made possible with support from the Directorate of Arts led by M’Kariko Amagulu (Director of the Arts) and Isabel Katjavivi (Deputy Director: Arts Promotion and Creative Industry Development).
