The Goethe-Institut Namibia forms part of the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institution. The Namibian chapter has played a prominent role in the country’s cultural scene by promoting cultural, literary, and visual art, as well as musical projects. 

In 2022 and 2024, the Goethe-Institut Namibia provided the venue facilities for the Doek Literary Festival along with its extensive organisational resources and helped to make the appearances of two of Africa’s most notable literary personalities—Zukiswa Wanner and Troy Onyango—possible.

In 2026 the new Goethe-Institut building located on the corner of Simeon Shixungileni Street and Dr W. Külz Street plays host to the third and most expansive edition of the Doek Literary Festival, allowing it to host more festival attendants and participants.

The Goethe-Institut’s collaboration with the Doek Literary Festival is led by Dennis Schroeder, the director, and Jasko Rust, the head of information and library services.
